nts, provide a clear picture of the strategy adopted by “terror bombing”. A chapter is dedicated to the houses intended for the “homeless”, called “little houses”, still existing today in the urban fabric.

Si ripercorrono le tappe che dall’invenzione dei velivoli hanno condotto allo sviluppo dell’arma aerea, fino ai bombardamenti subiti da Milano nel 1916 e dal 1940 al 1945. La popolazione inerme poteva cercare rifugio nelle “cantine puntellate” e la documentazione d’epoca ricostruisce la storia del “Ricovero N° 87”, approntato dal Comune di Milano nei sotterranei della Scuola Elementare Rosa Maltoni Mussolini, oggi Primaria Giacomo Leopardi. Le testimonianze dei superstiti e i documenti statunitensi desecretati tratteggiano il chiaro quadro della strategia adottata mediante il “terror bombing”. Un capitolo è dedicato alle abitazioni da destinarsi ai “senzatetto”, denominate “casette”, ancora oggi esistenti nel tessuto urbano.
